Description

Dada Dial is a application users can call to algorithmically generates poems from recordings of poetry from the UbuWeb archive using their voice. Inspired by John Giorno's Dial-a-Poets project.

Stack

Python, Ruby, Shell, Postgres, Asterisk

Contribution

Scraped UbuWeb sound archive, cutup recordings based on changes of volume (amplitude), and saved with frequency data in a database

Built a voice user interface with Asterisk that users called in to, recorded their voice and received a poem of UbuWeb cut ups that matched the audio signature of their voice.

Presented at a procedural poetry night organized by Ross Goodwin in Fall 2014.
